Welcome to St. Mary School. We would like to tell you a little bit about our school, which means telling you about our students because they come first.

We are student and family focused, and our students celebrate each other. We believe in and teach that we are a supportive and kind environment for both students and families. This doesn’t happen by accident, it happens because of our core values of faith and family.

“For any parent considering educational options, it’s always my recommendation to look for a loving, nurturing environment that focuses on academics and the importance of learning how to help others throughout life,” Jan Benson – Former Principal

We are a faith-based school, for Catholics and non-Catholics alike. We want you here! We have exceptional religious, economic, and ethnic diversity for a Catholic school and above all else, we believe God loves everybody, equally. We celebrate daily Mass, pray at the beginning and end of each day and before meals.

We are academically focused. We take the preparation of your child for high school, college, and beyond very seriously. We understand that while you believe in a Catholic education, you are not willing to accept anything less than academic excellence for your child, and neither are we. Our Iowa test scores are consistently some of the highest in the State of Illinois. Our students have an excellent record of acceptance into advanced placement classes in high school and beyond.

“With small class sizes and one class per grade level, our teachers are able to take a personalized approach to your child’s education. St. Mary Catholic School has a rich tradition in the Sycamore community and one that is grounded in academic excellence, spiritual formation and service to others.” Jan Benson – Former Principal

St. Mary Catholic School is recognized and fully accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education. It operates under the auspices of the Diocese of Rockford and conforms to its policies and guidelines. St. Mary School is a member of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA).
